Dunfermline won 5-3 on penalties after Fife Cup Semi Final ended tied at 1-1
The Fife Cup semi-final between Dunfermline and Cowdenbeath was played at Central Park on Tuesday 24th March.
The Pars fielded a young team fortified with three players who were on the first team bench against Ross County `“ Nurudeen Abdulai, Keith Bray and Lucas Fyfe. On loan players Freddie Rowe and Zeke Cameron were the only others in the Dunfermline side with SPFL experience. The home side started six of the team that faced Bo`ness United in the Lowland League leaving themselves strength on the bench.
With a distinct lack of goalmouth action in the opening 20 minutes. Bray and Rowe dominated in midfield and Cameron looked particularly hard to deal with at times. The hosts second corner of the night saw Paul McLean`s header kept out by the right goalpost.
Allan and McLean linked to set up former Dunfermline youth Stuart McDowell who could have shot but ended up losing possession. Jack Quinn and Fyfe combined on the edge of the Blue Brazil box but no shot was forthcoming. Then a penetrating run by Rowe in 33 minutes ended with a disappointing block and no corner.
The final chance of the half saw Pars keeper Leighton Farquharson save from Finlay Ness after his roll out was light. Dunfermline`s passing in the first half was lacking, they created little threat reflected by the total of zero corners in their favour.

Rhys Walker`s shot earned a 49th minute corner on the left as Callum Gibb headed behind. Abdulai headed that clear but on the second phase the ball returned from the left was turned in by central defender Jack DENHAM who was adjudged to have successfully stayed onside. 1-0
A 56th minute Bray free kick was headed back across goal by Abdulai and Fyfe tried a neat flick that would not find the net. Five minutes on Cameron`s lob from the left cleared the crossbar while at the other end Farquharson tipped a Downie header on to his crossbar.
Newly introduced sub Max Williamson brought a fine save out of the Pars keeper. Cowden keeper Dion Gear conceded an 83rd minute corner in pulling off a fine save from a rare on-target effort from Bray. Rowe was the player who eventually got on the shot from the setpiece that followed but it lacked the steam to beat Gear.
Lucas FYFE had not been fed many chances at all but when a move up the right drew the defence out the 17 year old striker was left with a relatively simple 88th minute slot home. 1-1
Dunfermline pressed for a winner but after three added minutes the semi final was decided on penalties.
